As our guests from South Africa jumped, or should we say jived, right into their experience here in St. Louis. On their first day at the Academy, all 15 students participated in a music and theater class led by Mrs. Lang, Mrs. Woodward, and Ms. Feder. The students warmed up, learned some cords, and then moved into learning the hand-jive in conjunction with the Spring production of “Grease the Musical.” Once they had the moves down, they moved to the auditorium to perform it on the stage and had a brief lesson on staging from Mrs. Lang, and also got a behind-the-scenes look at the run of the show for this weekend’s performances!
Our students & families hosting our sisters have been connecting with their paired students and building community with them prior to their arrival from South Africa. During their stay, they will attend classes with our students, take part in field trips around St. Louis, and will also share about their school community, culture, and our shared Ursuline connections. Brescia House School is an independent Catholic girls’ school situated in the heart of Bryanston in Johannesburg, South Africa. Offering Grades R – 12, the school has developed an excellent reputation for the development of outstanding young girls who, benefiting from a well-rounded and balanced education, are able to make a meaningful contribution to society.
We are so grateful to share in this exchange and connection with our Ursuline sisters during their visit!
