In their sophomore year, students take Scriptures Class with Mrs. Stinehart in which they explore our Judeo-Christian Scriptures, methods for the study of Scripture, and the historical and cultural contexts in which the Bible is written. Students are given the opportunity to utilize Scripture as prayer and a guide for their lives. How the Scriptures apply to our lives is emphasized throughout the course. One section of the class explores vocations, the values they add to our religious communities, and exploring the lives of those who follow that path. Earlier in the semester, Mrs. Stinehart’s class had the opportunity to tour the offices of the Ursuline Sisters of the Roman Union, Central Province, which are located next door to the school. There, students were taken on a tour led by Sister Jean Hopman, Sister Peggy Moore, and Sister Elisa Ryan. After the tour, everyone gathered for conversation, in which the girls were able to ask questions of the sisters to learn more about what their lives look like.
We love having the Ursuline Sisters close by, and as a resource to our students and school experience. International and worldwide by nature, the Ursuline Sisters of the Roman Union comprises more than 1,800 sisters in 37 countries on six continents, and contribute to our Global Education Program, theology, social justice, and more. Thank you to Sister Jean Hopman, Sister Peggy Moore, and Sister Elisa Ryan for hosting our sophomores and sharing in community with us.
