Olivia Mohan ’25 | Fashion Design

By Leah Folk

November 20, 2024

Congratulations to senior Olivia Mohan who recently had a fashion design selected for Lindenwood University's Fall High School Fashion Show. Her two-piece outfit highlights recycled garments, patchwork techniques, and hand-embroidered elements. Her piece will be making its runway debut on December 6th as part of Lindenwood University’s Fashion Show. This project stemmed from Ursuline’s Fashion Design course, a newer addition to our Arts Department.

“It is exciting to see great things coming out of this class in its first semester being offered,” said Lisa Payne, Ursuline Art Teacher and Department Chair.

Students taking Fashion Design build on their knowledge of sewing from Fiber Arts 1 and begin to explore garment design more specifically. Students will gain confidence in their sewing machine competency and troubleshooting, use and create patterns, reuse and recycle textiles through deconstructing garments, use surface design and finishing techniques, and learn the construction of design into apparel. In addition to supporting Olivia, students in Ursuline’s Photography class will also have the opportunity to attend the Fashion Show to practice their skills in practical photography.

We are proud of Olivia and her success in design, and cannot wait to see it continue to grow.
