Talk about the Fall semester speeding by! Ellie Tiburzi ’27 and her teammates on Ursuline’s Cross Country team have had a busy season so far!
Since beginning her high school career, freshman Ellie Tiburzi ’27 has consistently kept pace with her competition and teammates on the trail. At her first-ever cross country meet, she finished in first place Coming in as a freshman, with a time of 13:10 for a 2-mile race.
Then, at the Ed White Invitational in Arnold Park, Ellie placed 2nd in Varsity, with teammate Courson Henderson ’24 placing in the top 20 in JV. According to STL Today’s High School Sports, Ellie ran a 19:30.90 in the Long Course division, climbing to the top of the Ursuline Cross Country Honor Roll, a placement held since 2016, also placing her in the top 20 overall for the 23-24 season.
Consistently, Ellie has placed in the top 5 for Varsity races, most recently being one of six medals the Ursuline Bears took home from the Hancock Invitational. Ellie finished 5th in the Varsity race with teammates Courson Henderson ’24, Mia Nicoletti ’24, Ellie Pfeiffer ’25, Emily Gagnepain ’24, and Tessa Kathriner ’24 all finishing in the top 15 of the JV race.
The Cross Country team competes in the Class 3 District 1 Tournament on Saturday, Oct. 28, with their eyes set on the state race on Saturday, Nov. 11.

Speaking of Districts and State, it’s that time of year when a number of our Fall sports teams are playing their way through district brackets and onto State.
This year in Tennis, Ursuline qualified the maximum number of players (6) to the Class 1 Individual girls tournament and also advanced to the team tournament. For singles we had Emmie Kinder take 3rd and Meredith Goff take 8th and for doubles Alayna Quigley & Suzie Hanley took 7th place. Then for the Team Semifinals, Ursuline placed 3rd overall in State in Class 1, ending a historic season for the team.
Varsity Field Hockey made it to Quarterfinal match for the State competition, after an impressive season.
Varsity Volleyball won Districts and is competing next for Sectionals!
Taylor Wuennenberg ’25 advanced to the State Golf Tournament, and though they lost in the District Tournament, Kaitlyn Thole ’24 threw her 100th strikeout in Softball, setting a new school record.
Congratulations to all our Bears as they wrap up their Fall seasons!
