For members of our Ursuline community, the season of Serviam is one that never ends. We cultivate an understanding that all our relationships are rooted in our relationship with God and our Gospel call to service. It is from this foundation of our Ursuline Mission, that Serviam becomes a way of life and continues with our students long after they leave the halls of Ursuline.
It is in that same spirit of Serviam, that we are thrilled to announce our community-wide partnership for service with The Little Bit Foundation! Whether you are a student, parent, alumna, co-worker, or friend, we hope you join us!
This is a partnership that will give us so many opportunities to build relationships with those in our St. Louis community as well as learn more about systemic racism and the inequities some people experience every day. Students will be getting involved in a number of ways, primarily during S.P.L.A.S.H. Week and through the Senior Service Days for some members of the class of 2021. However, at the heart of this partnership is to begin a new tradition of coming together in heart as an Ursuline community and leave an imprint of love and hope on young lives for whom a little bit means so much.
We are honored to partner with this community-changing organization, and we want you to be a part of it. It is our hope that with this partnership, that we provide multiple different types of opportunities so that as many members of our Ursuline community can participate. Whether you are near or far, have a few hours or only a few minutes to spare, there is an opportunity for you. From our initial announcement of our partnership, we were thrilled to see the beginning of books being sent to Ursuline for the Story Time Program. A number of our students will have the opportunity to read these books via zoom recordings to children who benefit from The Little Bit Foundation, however, everyone is welcome and encouraged to select a book, and send in a reading. We are also seeking in-person volunteers for our time slot with the Mobile Food Market, on Wednesday, February 24 from 8:15 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Finally, our students will be hosting our hygiene product drive during the first week of February, which all are welcome to contribute to.
Our Ursuline value of Serviam will always be apart of us and will be something that will continue to call us to do what we can to extend a helping hand to those in need. With all of the disruption that we as a global community have faced over the past several months, it is our hope that we can begin this new year with a sense of renewed purpose and appreciation for the difference we can make, even in small ways. St. Angela calls on us to listen, learn, and then act, and every little bit counts. We hope you will join us in this exciting new partnership.
