Returning to both behind and in front of the camera, Ursuline’s Broadcast and Media Production class has been revitalized and expanded into a class for juniors and seniors. An overview of broadcast journalism, students’ experiences include in depth reporting and story development. Emphasis will be placed on developing story content, writing, editing, directing, and filming. Our Bears in Broadcast are also learning and demonstrating effective communication and management skills as they collaborate on projects and segments.
Gaining a better understanding of what a career in media/broadcasting looks like, students are getting hands-on experience of developing stories from start to finish and learning from professionals in the field. Kaitlyn Estopare ’18, a Fox 2 News producer, came and spoke to the class about her experience covering breaking news and what a typical day can look like for her and her teammates. We are grateful to Kaitlyn for sharing her time with our students and inspiring them to pursue their passions in video and broadcasting careers.
