Legacy Pinning | 2024

By Leah Folk

September 25, 2024

Beginning with the 175th Anniversary last year, the Alumnae Association began a new pin tradition, celebrating Alumna moms and their current Ursuline daughters. In the 23-24 school year, all students with alumnae mothers gathered together after the Feast of St. Ursula Mass to take part in this pinning ceremony. This year, as we welcomed the Ursuline Academy Class of 2028, this new tradition was tied in with the Induction Ceremony. Alumnae moms presented their daughters with the legacy pin to be worn on her dress uniform as a symbol of a shared experience and as a way of honoring our alum families for continuing to support the Ursuline Mission.

The Class of 2028 has 14 pairs of mothers and daughters who now can share in the tradition of Ursuline Academy. The evening’s ceremony concluded with a blessing of the pins, and prayer over the mothers and daughters as the mothers placed the legacy pins on their daughter’s red blazer.

It is our hope that moments like this pinning ceremony attest to the important role alumnae mothers have played and will continue to play over generations of Ursuline women during these formative high school years.

While treasured stories and memories within these halls have sounded different over the years, so much remains true from generation to generation.
