On Monday, October 17, school was not in session, but instead, UA co-workers partook in hands-on-experience of living out the charism of St. Angela Merici. After several years of being unable to do so, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Ursuline co-workers took part in a day of service all around the St. Louis area. Groups of co-workers ranging from two to ten spent the day at one of ten service sites including Energy Care, Covenant House, Shepherd’s Center, and the St. Louis Area Diaper Bank. Groups of co-workers spent their morning assisting with yard work, sorting donations, installing weather stripping to keep homes warm, providing company and helping hands and much more.
“It is always such a positive experience and one I am grateful for,” shared a co-worker during a brief reflection after the day. “To get to see a difference being made for someone, even just in one morning, and learning more about great causes and services available to our St. Louis community is such a blessing. I am so grateful to have this day each year and not only be encouraged to do so, especially with a new organization but to also actively participate in our Ursuline mission.”
We are incredibly grateful to our team in Campus Ministry for coordinating all the service sites and details to make the day possible, and to the school leadership, for making it possible to incorporate this day of Serviam into our yearly calendar and as of our co-worker experience.
