The last several months have been filled with exciting news and accomplishments for a number of our Ursuline Bears. Coming off of our historic basketball season taking the District Championship and our Cheer team taking 4th place at Nationals, after nearly a year off the field, our spring athletic teams were finally able to get back in the game themselves. Our varsity soccer team, though having to deal with a few postponed games, has come through strong with a current record of 6-2 and on track to compete for districts. It has also been an exciting time for three of our seniors, who recently signed their letters of intent to play at the collegiate level.
- Ella Castro signed at Truman State University and will be playing Soccer.
- Victoria Naeger signed at the University of Saint Mary and will be playing Lacrosse.
- Emma Weston signed at East Central College and will be playing Softball.
At the head of these recent achievements, we were thrilled to receive word that our Athletic Director for the past 25 years, Jen Brooks, had been recognized as the “Athletic Director of the Year,” in Missouri by the Missouri Interscholastic Activities Administrators Association (MIAAA). Since the award first began in 1974, Jen is the first private school athletic director to be chosen and just the second woman. She was featured in the St. Louis Post Dispatch for the achievement, in which she discussed her career, and what inspires her work to empower her fellow woman, not just in athletics but in life. The athletic department at Ursuline prides itself on preparing through a sports experience, strong, wise, and confident young women ready to take on the world, and that experience wouldn’t be the same without Jen Brooks. We cannot not celebrate with how good all this news has been, so we continue to cheer: Let’s go Bears!
